Water

WATER ~ our bodies cannot live without it! Over 65% of our body consists of water. Daily replenishment is essential to our overall health, especially intestinal health. The best way to determine HOW MUCH water you need daily is to divide your body weight in half – for example, if you weigh 150 lbs. your baseline of daily water intake is 75oz. Then add additional water for exercising 5-15oz and 5-10oz depending on the altitude you are living (or visiting) at. Since caffeine is a diuretic, ADD an additional 3oz of water for each ounce of caffeinated beverage you drink. Additional factors include heat, travel (altitude changes), and low humidity dry climates.

So here it is: example person weights 150 lbs. exercises 1 hour per day, does not drink caffeine, and lives at 7,000 ft. elevation = 75oz + 10oz + 15oz equals a total of 100oz of water per day.

It is best to disperse the water throughout your day and I find drinking at least 20-30oz prior to breakfast is the best way to start my day, both from a cleansing and energy perspective. I make sure to finish my water by 7-8 pm to ensure a good night’s sleep. Drink up!
